The main areas of focus for Adviser Edge’s corporate advisory team are as follows.
Regional development
Adviser Edge has a strong interest and involvement in regional development. The investment research undertaken by Adviser Edge has exposed the company to many regional shires, providing good insights into the factors that drive regional prosperity.
Adviser Edge has used this knowledge to assist a number of shires through the development of regional investment strategies. In 2009, Adviser Edge completed a project funded by Regional Development Victoria, which focused on the collective marketing of investment opportunities in a new economic region called ‘Victoria’s Foodbowl’. The aim was to draw on the collective strengths of the region to attract new investment.
Following on from this work, Adviser Edge was engaged by Loddon Shire to undertake a ‘planning for change’ project, which focused on the development of a strategy to attract investment into the shire’s irrigated agribusiness industries. Included in the work undertaken by Adviser Edge was the completion of Loddon Shire economic profile, extensive regional consultation, a strategic plan and SWOT analysis, and a regional prospectus which is the centrepiece of the Loddon Shire’s promotional strategy.
Adviser Edge brings a highly commercial focus to the task of regional development. Our strength lies in our ability to quickly grasp the key issues confronting regions as they seek to consolidate or build their economic and population base.
Agribusiness project reorganisation and recapitalisation
The agribusiness managed investment industry has been through a period of upheaval, which has created significant challenges for companies involved in the sector. Adviser Edge has been assisting a number of these firms to reorganise or recapitalise projects, to ensure the long-term viability of projects.
More recently, the majority of reorganisation has occurred after MIS manager failure. Opportunities exist for MIS companies to proactively pursue reorganisation and recapitalisation projects, thereby reducing investor exposure to management solvency risk and potentially creating improved liquidity. Adviser Edge is currently undertaking a number of these projects, and is available to assist MIS managers in exploring their options.
Wholesale fund development and capital raising
Adviser Edge, working in conjunction with our partner M&A firms, has assisted in the development of wholesale funds and investment structures, including the identification of investment opportunities. Primarily this work has been concentrated in the agribusiness investment sector, where Adviser Edge has significant experience.
We have the experience and capabilities to manage the fund development process from concept to issue, with our partner M&A firms adding significant value through access to family, office and wholesale capital markets.
Expert valuations
Adviser Edge has undertaken a number of expert valuation roles, focusing primarily on agribusiness assets. This work draws on the experience and analytical capabilities of the Adviser Edge team.
Expert valuation work undertaken by Adviser Edge includes:
- Pre-IPO valuations for agribusiness assets
- Bank valuations to ascertain adherence to loan covenants
- Agribusiness and forestry asset valuations for bidding parties
- Expert valuations undertaken as part of MIS project restructuring
The Adviser Edge team includes CPA, CFA and legally qualified senior personnel, who are experienced in undertaking complex expert valuation work.
Business analysis and financial modelling
Adviser Edge is experienced at undertaking operational reviews for agribusiness and forestry operations.
To date, this work has focused on management competence and performance, financial viability, investment returns and market analysis. Our work has been integral to the decision-making process of clients who are either looking to invest, or who have exposure through an existing investment.
