Path Independent has evolved from the structured products research division of Adviser Edge. In late 2008, Geoff Watkins, Managing Director of Path Independent, and Shane Kelly, Managing Director of Adviser Edge, identified the financial planning community’s need for a better understanding of the added value that structured products and other quantitative products could potentially bring to clients’ portfolios.

Path Independent was therefore created to service these needs, and a team drawn from both the ‘buy’ and ‘sell’ sides of the investment community was brought together to professionally service a range of client needs. The company specialises in financial products that are structured, capital protected, rules-based, index-linked, or thematic.

Path Independent is now mandated to perform all product assessments and ratings on any structured products or similar investments for Adviser Edge.

The company was founded by Louis Christopher, one of Australia’s most recognised and respected property analysts. Louis is also Managing Director for SQM Research.
